The tragic incident involving NHL superstar Johnny Gaudreau and his brother has left the sports world in shock. The man accused of causing their deaths, Sean Higgins, admitted to authorities that he had consumed “5-6 beers” before getting behind the wheel of his Jeep Grand Cherokee. The collision occurred on a rural road in Salem County, New Jersey, where the Gaudreau brothers were riding their bicycles.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Higgins told officers that he was trying to pass an SUV when he collided with the brothers, causing fatal injuries. He admitted to drinking alcohol before and during his drive, and showed signs of intoxication during questioning. Higgins also confessed that his impatience and reckless driving were influenced by his alcohol consumption.

As a result of the incident, Higgins was arrested and charged with two counts of death by auto. The Gaudreau brothers, who were in town for their sister’s wedding, were supposed to be groomsmen at the ceremony. However, the wedding has since been canceled in light of the tragedy.

Johnny Gaudreau, known as “Johnny Hockey,” was just 31 years old at the time of his passing. The sports community mourns the loss of a talented athlete and his brother Matthew. May they rest in peace.
