WITKOFF EVERYWHERE: Trump’s Special Envoy Leaves High-Stakes Meeting With Putin and Heads Directly to the Iran Nuclear Talks – MSM Calls Him a ‘Novice’, and Too Russian-Friendly |

Witkoff had his THIRD meeting with Vladimir Putin yesterday (11).

Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy appointed by President Donald Trump, is receiving mixed reviews from the mainstream media. The Washington Post labels him the ‘envoy for everything,’ while The Telegraph criticizes him as a ‘novice’ who has ‘bitten off more than he can chew.’

Only a day after engaging in high-stakes discussions with President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, Witkoff has already jetted off to Oman to negotiate a nuclear deal with Iran. His rapid-fire diplomacy is earning him both accolades and animosity, not only from political opponents but also from the entrenched diplomatic community in Washington—particularly those aligned with neoconservative and moderate Republican perspectives.

People love attacking @SteveWitkoff, but he has done more to advance peace negotiations & hostage releases than any of his career bureaucrat critics have done during their entire careers in the Swamp.

According to Reuters,

“Putin was shown on state TV greeting Witkoff in St. Petersburg’s presidential library at the start of the negotiations, and state news agencies later reported that the discussions extended for over four hours.

“The theme of the meeting — aspects of a Ukrainian settlement,” the Kremlin stated following the conclusion of the talks.

Perhaps anticipating backlash for Witkoff’s perceived closeness to Putin, Trump took to Truth Social to assert, “Russia has to get moving. Too many people DYING, thousands a week, in a terrible and senseless war—a war that should have never happened and wouldn’t have happened if I were President!!!”

“A February meeting between Witkoff and Putin culminated with the U.S. envoy flying home with Marc Fogel, an American teacher whom Washington had claimed was wrongfully detained by Russia.

“A Russian-American spa worker, Ksenia Karelina, who had been sentenced to 12 years in prison in Russia, was exchanged on Thursday for Arthur Petrov, whom the U.S. accused of operating a global smuggling ring to transfer sensitive electronics to Russia’s military.”

Witkoff and Russia’s Kirill Dmitriev have kept the détente push alive with frequent meetings.

Witkoff’s effectiveness stems from a pragmatic realism that contrasts sharply with the idealistic rhetoric of many of his critics. While the diplomatic chorus clamors for a ‘just’ resolution in Ukraine, Witkoff appears to grasp a sobering truth: the terms of any settlement are likely to be dictated by the victors, in this case, Russia.

In another Reuters report,

“The U.S. special envoy leading talks with Moscow sat down with President Donald Trump in the White House and delivered a clear message.

“The fastest way to broker a ceasefire in Ukraine, said Witkoff, was to support a strategy that would give Russia ownership of four eastern Ukrainian regions it attempted to annex illegally in 2022, according to two U.S. officials and five people familiar with the situation.”

In simpler terms, U.S. recognition of the newly claimed Russian territories of Kherson, Zaporozhie, Donetsk, and Luhansk, as well as the legitimacy of the referendums held in these regions, tops the Russian demand list. Should the U.S. refuse this, it may as well step back and allow the conflict to unfold.

General Keith Kellogg, the president’s envoy on Ukraine, has voiced his opposition to this line of thinking.

“Witkoff, an old acquaintance of Trump’s who has facilitated key diplomatic achievements for the president, has garnered some backing from the Republican Party’s skeptics on Ukraine. However, his proposals have ignited outrage among other Republicans who believe the administration has pivoted too quickly toward Moscow.”

“Some Republicans on Capitol Hill were so alarmed by Witkoff’s seemingly pro-Russia stance during the Carlson interview that they promptly reached out to National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to express their concerns,” a source revealed.

When Reuters mentions anxious ‘Republicans,’ it’s essential to recognize that these voices primarily represent neoconservative and moderate factions within the party.
