The highly anticipated revival of the classic sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle” is currently in production, and fans were thrilled to see a recent behind-the-scenes photo posted by Frankie Muniz. The picture featured Muniz alongside his on-screen parents Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek, who are all reprising their roles as Malcolm, Hal, and Lois in the modern spin on the beloved series.
The four-episode revival will see Malcolm and his daughter getting caught up in the family’s chaos as Hal and Lois celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Joining Muniz, Cranston, and Kaczmarek are Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield, who will be returning as Francis and Reese respectively. However, Erik Per Sullivan, who played Dewey in the original series, will not be reprising his role. Instead, actor Caleb Ellsworth-Clark will be taking over the role of Dewey.
In addition to the original cast members, the revival will introduce some new characters. Kiana Madeira will star as Tristan, Malcolm’s girlfriend, while Anthony Timpano, Vaughan Murrae, and Keeley Karsten will also join the cast. Timpano will portray Malcolm’s youngest brother, Jamie, while Murrae will play Kelly, Malcolm’s youngest sibling. Karsten will take on the role of Leah, Malcolm’s daughter.
Fans of the show will remember Jamie’s introduction in the fourth season of “Malcolm in the Middle,” while Kelly is a new character whose presence was hinted at in the series finale. Described as “self-sufficient” and “already wiser than most of the family,” Kelly is sure to bring a new dynamic to the show. Leah, on the other hand, is said to possess the same sarcastic humor, impulsiveness, and high intelligence as her father Malcolm, but she is also more sensitive and emotional.
With the original cast members returning and new characters adding fresh energy to the series, the “Malcolm in the Middle” revival is shaping up to be a must-watch for fans of the original show. Stay tuned for more updates as the revival continues to take shape.
