Stranded Nasa Astronaut Reports Strange Sound Coming From Boeing Starliner

The recent discovery of a strange sound heard by astronaut Butch Willmore aboard the International Space Station has caused a stir in the space community. NASA has released a statement regarding the mysterious noise, attributing it to a pulsing sound from a speaker in Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft. The feedback from the speaker was determined to be a result of an audio configuration issue between the space station and the Starliner.

According to NASA, the space station’s audio system is complex, allowing for multiple spacecraft and modules to be interconnected. It is not uncommon to experience noise and feedback in such a system. The crew is instructed to contact mission control when they hear sounds originating from the communication system. Fortunately, the speaker feedback reported by Willmore has no technical impact on the crew, the Starliner, or station operations.

The audio recording of the strange noise was first reported by Ars Technica, with Willmore expressing his confusion over the sound and seeking clarification from mission control. After configuring a way for Willmore to play the sound through the phone, mission control confirmed that the noise resembled a pulsating noise, similar to a sonar ping.

Michigan-based meteorologist Rob Dale was the first to capture and share the recording of the mysterious sound. Despite multiple attempts to understand the source of the noise, the exact cause remains a mystery. However, NASA has assured Willmore that they will analyze the recording and provide him with an explanation.

Willmore and fellow astronaut Suni Williams have been stranded on the International Space Station since June 6 due to issues with the Starliner spacecraft. The duo was originally scheduled to return to Earth after a week-long stay but now face a prolonged stay until February 2025 when they will return to Earth on one of Elon Musk’s SpaceX ships.

As the investigation into the strange sound continues, the crew remains focused on their mission and the safe operation of the station. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
