Alijah Arenas’ Cybertruck was involved in a serious crash in an L.A. suburb early Thursday morning, leaving the 18-year-old 5-star recruit in critical condition. However, investigators do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be a factor in the accident.
According to law enforcement sources, LAPD did not observe any signs of intoxication at the scene when Alijah was pulled from his burning vehicle around 4:55 AM. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, Alijah was already intubated, preventing authorities from conducting a blood draw to test for substances.
The main cause of the crash is believed to be speed, compounded by the young age of the driver and the high-performance capabilities of the Tesla Cybertruck. With the vehicle capable of going from 0-60 MPH in just around 2.6 seconds, the combination of factors likely led to the devastating accident.
At this time, there is no criminal investigation underway, as authorities focus on the recovery and well-being of Alijah. A representative for the Arenas family provided an update on Friday, stating that the young basketball star is showing signs of improvement but is still facing challenges on the road to recovery.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving practices and the potential dangers of high-speed vehicles, even for experienced drivers. Our thoughts are with Alijah Arenas and his family as he continues to fight for his health and future.
