Bezos, who also owns the Washington Post, has been under scrutiny for implementing notable changes to the editorial direction of his publication, prompting several writers to resign in protest.
During a recent White House press briefing led by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, the topic of Amazonâs tariff display was addressed. Leavitt responded to a reporter’s inquiry with notable fervor, declaring, âThis is a hostile and political act by Amazon. Why didnât Amazon do this when the Biden administration hiked inflation to the highest level in 40 years?â Such a statement effectively reframed the narrative, suggesting that Amazon’s timing was politically motivated.
Leavitt then went on to connect Amazon’s actions to its controversial dealings with China, stating, âIt is not a surprise.
