Global Constellation: Vuelta Group’s New International Sales Division
Vuelta Group’s international sales division, Playtime, has recently completed the acquisition of sales house Film Constellation from Fabien Westerhoff. This move has led to the integration of Film Constellation’s operations with Global Screen, a German-based international sales outfit under Playtime. Together, these entities have now formed Global Constellation, a part of the Playtime Group which also includes sales companies Playtime, Film Boutique, and Be for Films.
Fabien Westerhoff, the former owner of Film Constellation, has taken on an executive role as the managing director of the theatrical film division within Global Constellation. His focus will be on animation, family entertainment, and genre cinema. Ulrike Schroder has been appointed as the managing director of the TV division, overseeing the hub for international TV distribution within Vuelta.
Global Constellation will work closely with Vuelta Germany, Vuelta’s German film distribution arm, which was created through the merger of Squareone and Telepool. This collaboration positions Global Constellation as a key partner for German and international filmmakers looking for pan-European collaborations and international reach. Their first joint projects will be revealed at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.
The film slate of Global Constellation includes a range of exciting projects such as “Olmo” by Fernando Eimbcke, “Welcome Home Baby” by Andreas Prochaska, and animated features like “The Last Dinosaur” and “The Last Whale Singer.” On the TV side, Global Constellation offers a lineup that includes the true crime miniseries “Murder on the Inca Trail” and the second season of the popular TV show “Recipes for Love and Murder.”
François Yon, Vuelta’s CEO, expressed his enthusiasm for the merger, stating that the expertise of the Film Constellation team combined with the Global Screen’s footprint made perfect sense for the company’s ambitions. Fabien Westerhoff shared his excitement to join Vuelta and bring Constellation’s strong filmmaker ties to create a bold slate of projects with global market appeal. Ulrike Schroder emphasized that Global Constellation will continue its tradition as an integrated house of cinema and TV world sales, now with even greater reach and weight thanks to Vuelta’s support.
Jerome Levy, Chairman of Vuelta Media, highlighted the importance of Global Constellation in Vuelta’s broader strategy to create a collaborative and integrated European film studio. With a talented and creative team in place, Global Constellation aims to bring together development, production, distribution, and international sales under one roof.
Overall, the formation of Global Constellation marks an exciting new chapter for Vuelta Group’s international sales division, promising innovative and dynamic projects for audiences worldwide.
