Pop icon Katy Perry has taken a moment to address the torrent of criticism and ridicule that has recently been directed her way, using a heartfelt response to a Brazilian fan page as her platform.

The 40-year-old artist expressed her gratitude in reaction to a video shared by the fan page, which featured a billboard thanking her for her contributions, as reported by Cosmopolitan.

“I’m so grateful for you guys,” Perry wrote in her response, as reported by Fox News. “We’re on this beautiful and wild journey together. I strive to remain true to myself, with an open heart and honesty, especially because of our connection.

“I love you all and feel like we’ve grown up together, and I can’t wait to see you around the world this year!

“Please understand that I am okay; I have done a lot of work on understanding who I am, what is real, and what matters to me.

“Years ago, my therapist shared a pivotal insight: ‘No one can make you believe something about yourself that you don’t already believe.’ If I ever feel a certain way about criticism, it’s an opportunity to explore those feelings further.

“When the online world tries to turn me into a human Piñata, I respond with grace and send out love, because I realize many people are struggling in various ways, and the internet often serves as a dumping ground for the unhinged and unhealed.”

While her lengthy response lacks specifics beyond her reflections on the “online” world, it’s important to note that Perry has recently faced two major instances of public derision. Firstly, she was part of a widely criticized all-female space crew involved in Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin program earlier this April.

In addition to this incident, Perry has also encountered broader scrutiny regarding her “Lifetimes” tour, with one particularly viral video subjecting her to widespread derision. “Maybe she should have spent less time in space and more time rehearsing,” quipped one user on X here.

Others on X compared Perry’s dance moves to those of Australian break dancer Rachael “Raygun” Gunn — and let’s just say, it wasn’t meant as a compliment for those unacquainted with the reference.
