Colt Gray, the suspected Georgia high school shooter, was revealed to have come from a troubled home life, as reported by TMZ. The Gray family home had a history of Child Protective Services being called up to 4 times by their former neighbor, Lauren Vickers. Vickers described seeing Colt wearing the same clothes daily and his younger siblings being locked out of the house at night, screaming and crying to get in.
According to Vickers, she witnessed Colt’s parents getting into heated arguments outside the house multiple times, often in the driveway. Eventually, Colt’s mother, Marcee, moved out with the youngest sibling, Coley, while his father, Colin, stayed behind with Colt and his younger sister, Jenny. The family drama escalated to the point where the landlord insisted that if Marcee ever returned, the whole family would be kicked out, leading to her eventual departure.
Furthermore, it was not just the home environment where Colt faced challenges. Vickers’ daughter, who attended school with Colt, mentioned witnessing him being bullied relentlessly. Colt’s aunt, Annie Polhamus Brown, affirmed that his home environment was toxic at various stages of his life.
Colt is suspected of fatally shooting four people, including students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, as well as teachers Richard Aspinwall and Christina Irimie at Winder, GA school. Nine others were injured in the tragic incident.
Following the shooting, Colt appeared in court and faces the maximum penalty for four felony murder charges, potentially leading to a life sentence without the possibility of parole. Additionally, Colt’s father, Colin, has also been arrested and charged with murder, facing multiple charges including involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to children.
The heartbreaking events surrounding Colt Gray shed light on the importance of addressing mental health issues, bullying, and troubled home environments to prevent such tragedies from reoccurring. The community mourns the lives lost and hopes for justice to be served for all those affected by this devastating incident.
