Nick Suzuki and the Montreal Canadiens had a disappointing end to their 2024-25 NHL season, as they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Washington Capitals in five games. Despite finishing the regular season with a 40-31-11 record and securing the final wild card spot in the East, the Canadiens couldn’t advance further in the postseason.

Following their early exit, team captain Nick Suzuki received an invitation to join Team Canada at the upcoming 2025 IIHF World Championship. The invitation included other notable players like Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, and Marc-Andre Fleury. Initially expected to accept the invitation, it was later revealed by hockey insider Marc Antoine Godin that Suzuki would not be able to join the team due to lingering injuries.

In a recent interview, Suzuki disclosed that he had been dealing with undisclosed injuries during the playoffs and would require medical clearance before returning to play. Despite Canada having four open spots on their 21-man roster, Suzuki decided not to fill one of those vacancies.

Looking ahead, Suzuki expressed his desire to represent Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. The forward shared that playing in the best-on-best Olympic tournament has been a childhood dream of his, and he is determined to do everything possible to make it a reality. Despite uncertainties about his participation in the 2026 World Championship, Suzuki believes that his strong performance this season has demonstrated his readiness for the Olympic stage.

With 59 assists and 89 points in 82 regular-season games, Suzuki showcased his skills on the ice. Although he added two goals in the playoffs, his focus now shifts towards preparing for the upcoming seasons and ultimately earning a spot on the Canadian Olympic team.

As Suzuki sets his sights on the 2026 Winter Olympics, fans can anticipate watching him strive to achieve his dream of representing Canada on the international stage. His dedication to the sport and determination to excel make him a player to watch in the years to come.
