Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana recently faced a setback as his £350,000 Lamborghini Urus was impounded by the police. The incident occurred when Onana’s friend was driving the car without insurance and was flagged by an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system in Hale Barns. The car was subsequently stopped and taken away by the authorities.
According to reports, Onana has a 14-day window to secure insurance for his vehicle and retrieve it. Failure to do so could result in the car being auctioned off or even crushed. This incident took place before Manchester United’s Europa League semifinal against Athletic Bilbao, where Onana played a crucial role in their 4-1 victory at Old Trafford.
Interestingly, this is not the first time a Manchester United player has faced car troubles with the police. In a similar incident, midfielder Paul Pogba had his Rolls-Royce Wraith seized for driving with a Monaco-registered number plate, resulting in a fine and misdemeanour points.
Onana’s future at Manchester United seems uncertain, with speculations suggesting that the club may be open to selling him in the summer transfer window. Football pundit Paul Parker has been critical of Onana’s performances and has suggested that the club should consider bringing in a new goalkeeper like Mads Hermansen to replace him.
With Saudi Pro League clubs reportedly monitoring Onana’s situation, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the talented goalkeeper at Manchester United. As the summer transfer window approaches, fans will be eager to see how the club addresses their goalkeeping situation and whether Onana will remain a part of their plans moving forward.
