Google is gearing up to launch Android 16, and they are doing it in style with their own ‘I/O Edition’ live stream. While the full Google I/O 2025 developer conference is still on the cards, the tech giant has decided to unveil the next version of Android a week earlier, possibly to focus more on discussing Gemini AI during the main event.

The Android 16 launch event, titled The Android Show: I/O Edition, is scheduled for May 13 at 10 am PST, which translates to 1 pm EST and 6 pm BST (UK time). The live stream will be available on the official Android YouTube channel, but for your convenience, we have embedded the live stream below.

As for what to expect from The Android Show I/O Edition, Google has kept details under wraps. However, they have hinted that attendees will get to “hang out with Sameer Samat, President of Android Ecosystem, and the Android team to be the first to learn about innovative new experiences.” It is highly likely that the event will focus on the new features of Android 16, including the leaked Material 3 Expressive user interface design.

The new OS will be rolled out to Pixel phones and tablets, as well as third-party Android devices. There may also be announcements regarding other Android forms like Wear OS 6 and Gemini AI. To stay updated, be sure to tune in to the live stream.

While there is a possibility of a teaser, do not expect any announcements regarding upcoming hardware such as the Pixel 10, Pixel Watch 4, and Pixel Tablet 2. Google is unlikely to mention these devices by name, even though they will run on the new software. For any potential hardware-related news, it is best to keep an eye on the main Google I/O conference scheduled for May 20-21.
