Google Testing Redesign of Search Homepage with AI Mode Feature

Google is currently in the process of testing a new redesign of its Search homepage. In this redesign, the longstanding “I’m Feeling Lucky” button is being replaced by “AI Mode,” an experimental AI-powered search feature that was initially introduced in May.

According to a report by The Verge, Google has confirmed that this new feature is being rolled out to some users within its experimental Labs environment. However, there is no guarantee that it will be officially launched to the public.

This test coincides with the upcoming Google I/O event, where the company is expected to unveil significant updates to its AI-powered search capabilities.

It is worth noting that Google seldom makes changes to its Search homepage, making this redesign particularly noteworthy. The decision to revamp the homepage may be driven by recent developments, such as a testimony from an Apple executive in court. The executive stated that Google Searches on Safari experienced a decline for the first time last month, citing the increasing popularity of AI tools like ChatGPT as a contributing factor.
