Scavino Accuses Comey of Inciting Violence Against Trump
In a recent turn of events, Dan Scavino, Jr., the White House Deputy Chief of Staff and a close aide to President Donald Trump, has publicly rebuked former FBI Director James Comey. Scavino called out Comey for a now-deleted Instagram post featuring the cryptic number “8647,” which he interpreted as a “plea to bad actors/terrorists to assassinate the POTUS” while Trump is on an official trip abroad. Shortly thereafter, Scavino tweeted the acronym “FAFO,” which many assume stands for a rather colorful phrase about consequences.

President Trump is currently engaged in a historic diplomatic visit to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, which concludes on Friday. Notably, the Iranian government was recently implicated in a plot to assassinate Trump during his presidential campaign last year, a fact that adds layers of tension to this international trip.
Trump, who famously dismissed Comey from his role as FBI director in 2017, has a fraught history with the former official. Comey has been accused of leaking documents to instigate the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Trump in relation to allegations of collusion with Russia. He also took pride in orchestrating a controversial interview with Trump’s former national security advisor, Gen. Michael Flynn, which led to Flynn’s dismissal and subsequent legal troubles.
Scavino, who has known Trump since 1992 after caddying for him, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his disdain for Comey. “Comey truly is a POS. While he’ll claim not to know what 8647 means, there’s no doubt that the former disgraced FBI Dir. knows exactly what he’s doing, with a plea to bad actors/terrorists to assassinate the POTUS while traveling internationally. Don’t let him get away with it!!” he wrote.

Additionally, Scavino has posted videos showcasing the fighter jet escorts accompanying Trump during travel through Saudi Arabia and Qatar, emphasizing the security measures in place:

Adding to the drama, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced that the Secret Service is investigating Comey’s comments, stating, “Disgraced former FBI Director James Comey just called for the assassination of @POTUS Trump. DHS and Secret Service are investigating this threat and will respond appropriately.”

In a final flourish, Scavino shared two more (rather enigmatic) posts, reiterating “FAFO” and linking to a performance of Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight.” The implications of these posts remain to be seen:
