Actor Quits Over Alleged Use of N-Word, Full Nudity
… Studio Disputes Reports

Published May 21, 2025 1:00 AM PDT

A supporting actor in the upcoming “Madden” film quit on Friday — just two weeks into production — allegedly over the use of the N-word and full frontal nudity. However, sources close to Amazon Studios have disputed these allegations, stating that the reports are being twisted.

According to five members of the cast and crew, who spoke with TMZ, the actor walked off set after director David O. Russell allegedly used the N-word during an impromptu monologue. This incident occurred while filming scenes with Nicolas Cage as NFL legend John Madden and Christian Bale as Raiders owner Al Davis.

The cast and crew members claimed that the actor expressed discomfort with a nude scene in a locker room setting the day before, which led to tensions on set. Studio sources, however, refuted these claims, stating that the actor had originally suggested the use of the N-word in a scene, but it was ultimately not included in the final shot.

Despite the disagreements, the studio emphasized that efforts were made to accommodate the actor’s concerns, including offering alternative blocking for the scene. The door for the actor to return to production remains open, with ongoing discussions taking place to resolve the situation.

Production of “Madden” has reportedly been challenging, with conflicts and tensions arising, exacerbated by the intense Method acting approach of both Nicolas Cage and Christian Bale. Both actors, who are Academy Award winners, have been fully committed to their roles, with improvisations welcomed on set.

Studio sources have reassured that no inappropriate behavior involving either actor has occurred between takes, despite the challenges faced during filming. The controversy surrounding the actor’s departure from the project continues to unfold, as the production navigates through the complexities of creative differences and on-set dynamics.
