New York:

During the UN Security Council Open Debate on Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, strongly condemned Pakistan’s actions. He criticized Pakistan for making “baseless” allegations and highlighted the long history of terrorist attacks sponsored by Pakistan on India.

Ambassador Harish pointed out the hypocrisy of Pakistan participating in discussions on protecting civilians when it has been behind numerous terrorist attacks on Indian soil. He emphasized the impact of these attacks on innocent civilians and criticized Pakistan for using civilian cover to further its terrorist agenda.

Notably, he mentioned a recent incident where Pakistani forces targeted Indian border villages, resulting in civilian casualties. He called out Pakistan for intentionally attacking places of worship and medical facilities.

Ambassador Harish stressed the importance of international cooperation in combating terrorism and called for zero tolerance towards those who sponsor and defend it. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to working with the international community to alleviate the suffering of civilians affected by armed conflict.

In response to recent terrorist activities, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’ to target terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. These actions were taken following the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen.
