According to investigators, the escape was facilitated by the removal of bolts from the jail’s outer wall, prompting a thorough examination of those present in the vicinity leading up to the incident.

The ten escapees include: Antoine Massey, Lenton Venburen, Leo Tate, Kendell Myles, Derrick Groves, Jermaine Donald, Corey Boyd, Gary Price, Robert Moody, Dkenan Dennis, and Keith Lewis. Footage captured within the facility shows inmates attempting to force open a door, ultimately fleeing through a concealed hole behind a toilet.

Currently, law enforcement has successfully recaptured half of the escapees, but five individuals—including a convicted murderer—are still at large. The public has been cautioned that these men are deemed armed and dangerous.

According to Fox:

The four arrested include 18-year-old Patricia Vanburen, 27-year-old Tyshanea “Minnie” Randolph, 47-year-old Lenton Vanburen Sr., and 40-year-old Angel McKey. Notably, Vanburen Sr. is the father of one of the escaped inmates, Lenton Vanburen.

These arrests followed the apprehension of another suspect on Friday, identified as 28-year-old Emmitt Weber, who allegedly assisted two of the inmates post-escape from the Orleans Parish Correctional Facility.

Additionally, two other individuals, Casey Smith and Cortnie Harris, have been arrested for their involvement in aiding the escapees. Another suspect, Connie Weeden, 59, is accused of sending cash to Donald via a mobile payment app.

The following fugitives remain at large:

  • Lenton Vanburen Jr., 27, faces charges including illegal carrying of weapons, possession of a firearm by a felon, obstruction of justice, and introducing contraband into a prison.

  • Jermaine Donald, 42, is charged with second-degree murder, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm by a felon, and obstruction of justice.

  • Antoine Massey, 32, faces charges of domestic abuse involving strangulation, theft of a motor vehicle, and a parole violation.

  • Derrick Groves, 27, is charged with three counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder, and battery of a correctional facility employee.

  • Leo O. Tate Sr., 31, faces charges of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, possession of a firearm by a felon, illegal carrying of a weapon, motor vehicle theft, and multiple drug offenses.
