The much-anticipated WWDC 2025, Apple’s annual developers conference, kicks off at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET on Monday. With last year’s focus on AI, this year Apple faces the challenge of building on its promises amidst a backdrop of negative headlines.

As tradition dictates, the event will feature software updates and new technologies, with rumors suggesting that the upcoming iOS version will see the most significant design changes since the introduction of iOS 7. Speculations hint at a redesign inspired by visionOS, the software powering Apple’s spatial computing headset, the Apple Vision Pro. This could mean a more transparent interface and circular app icons, departing from the current square format.

In a surprising move, Apple is rumored to transition to a year-based naming system for its operating systems, with iOS 26 expected to make its debut at WWDC 2025. This shift could extend to other products like adOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26.

While AI advancements have been a focal point in previous years, Apple may keep the AI news light this time. Reports suggest updates to existing AI tools like Siri and the Health app, with a potential integration of AI technology for personalized health suggestions and improved user experiences.

iPhone users might be in for a treat with the introduction of a dedicated gaming app, set to replace the aging Game Center app. The new app could offer access to Apple Arcade and additional gaming features like leaderboards and remote gaming via iMessage or FaceTime.

Updates across Mac, Watch, TV, and more are also expected, with macOS potentially receiving a new gaming app and enhancements for AirPods. Apple TV may undergo a visual overhaul and introduce new features like the gaming app.

AirPods users can look forward to a host of new features, including a live-translate language feature and new head gestures for improved interaction. The Apple Pencil is also set to receive an update to cater to Arabic script users with a virtual calligraphy feature in iPadOS 19.

While hardware announcements are scarce, rumors suggest possible support for spatial controllers for the Vision Pro and the introduction of eye-scrolling support. Reports of a smart home tablet and software named “HomeOS” add to the anticipation surrounding WWDC 2025, hinting at exciting developments in the Apple ecosystem.
