Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Sets Record in First Two NBA Finals Games

The current NBA MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, has made history in the first two games of the NBA Finals by surpassing Allen Iverson’s record. With a total of 72 points scored in Games 1 and 2, Gilgeous-Alexander has broken Iverson’s 24-year-old record of 71 points in the first two games of the 2001 NBA Finals, where Iverson’s team ultimately lost to the LA Lakers.

Despite his historic performances, Gilgeous-Alexander remains focused on the ultimate goal of winning the championship. In a post-game interview after Game 2, he expressed that he would trade his record-breaking points for two wins in the series.

In Game 2, Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder to a victory over the Indiana Pacers with 34 points on 11-of-21 shooting. His all-around performance included five rebounds, eight assists, and four steals. This came after a tough loss in Game 1, where he scored 38 points but fell short to a buzzer-beater shot by Tyrese Haliburton.

Similar to Iverson in 2001, Gilgeous-Alexander is playing in his first NBA Finals and had an outstanding regular season, averaging 32.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game.

As the series moves to Indianapolis for Games 3 and 4, Gilgeous-Alexander is expected to continue leading the Thunder on their quest for the championship. The team is determined to stay focused and maintain their winning mentality after securing their first win in the series.

With the Thunder aiming for their first NBA title since moving to Oklahoma City in 2008, Gilgeous-Alexander emphasized the importance of staying locked in and focused on the task at hand. The team’s impressive regular season performance and playoff victories have set the stage for a thrilling NBA Finals showdown.

As the Thunder look to capture the championship, Gilgeous-Alexander’s leadership and scoring prowess will be crucial in guiding the team to victory. With the support of his teammates and the determination to succeed, the Thunder are poised to make a strong push for the title.

In conclusion, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s historic performances in the first two NBA Finals games have set the stage for an exciting series. With his unmatched scoring ability and leadership on the court, he is determined to lead the Thunder to victory and etch his name in NBA Finals history.
