Media’s Misleading Narratives: A Repeat Offense?
Recent reports suggest that various liberal outlets in cable and network news are engaging in a disconcerting trend of misleading the public regarding the Los Angeles riots and the consequent unrest. Journalists appear to be urging viewers to disregard their own observations and instincts, creating a narrative that flies in the face of visible reality.
This situation may feel eerily familiar, as it mirrors the media’s previous handling of President Joe Biden’s cognitive health. Just weeks ago, prominent figures like Jake Tapper acknowledged a major oversight in reporting on Biden’s mental decline, a topic they had previously downplayed.
Mollie Hemingway, Editor-in-Chief of The Federalist, highlighted this troubling pattern during her appearance on FOX News. She criticized outlets like the New York Times for their insistence that viewers should not trust their own eyes, instead urging them to rely on the very same sources that propagated the Russia collusion narrative and other unverified claims.
“The New York Times is telling people, ‘Do not believe your lying eyes; believe us, the people who spread the Russia collusion hoax, who spread conspiracy theories about Brett Kavanaugh. Believe us when we tell you that what you see on video from firsthand accounts isn’t real,’” Hemingway stated on Fox News’ Outnumbered.
“This is just weeks after they’ve all said, ‘Oh, we did such a bad job with Joe Biden, when we said that what you saw with your own eyes was a cheap fake.’ And what are they doing yet again but saying this is a cheap fake.”
In a related tweet, Hemingway reinforced her point, calling out the mainstream media for attempting to rerun the “Cheap Fakes” narrative regarding the LA riots:
