Virginia Woman Arrested in Fatal Hit-and-Run Death of Hamptons Real Estate Agent Sara Burack

A Virginia woman was arrested in connection with the fatal hit-and-run death of prominent Hamptons real estate agent Sara Burack. Marine biologist Amanda Kempton, 32, pleaded not guilty in court and was released on bail after her family put up collateral.

Kempton’s lawyer claimed that she thought she had hit a traffic cone and didn’t realize she had struck a person. The incident occurred on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays, where Burack was walking with a pink suitcase.

Prosecutors described Kempton as a flight risk, but she was released on bail pending further legal proceedings. She faces a felony charge of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident with a fatality, which could result in up to four years in prison.

Despite spending time at a tavern before the incident, alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the case. Authorities used a license plate reader to track Kempton’s movements and found her vehicle with damage consistent with the accident.

Burack, a well-known real estate agent who appeared on “Million Dollar Beach House,” tragically lost her life in the hit-and-run. Kempton, who previously worked at the Children’s Museum of the East End, is now facing serious legal consequences for her involvement in the incident.
