In what seems to be a never-ending spectacle, Donald Trump has once again managed to take center stage, this time with a performance that can only be described as bizarre and shameful. The former president, who once held the reins of the U.S. military, attempted to persuade the American populace of the necessity for a new military engagement in the Middle East.

Video:

In his address, Trump stated:

Thank you very much. Recently, the U.S. military executed significant precision strikes on three pivotal nuclear facilities within the Iranian regime—Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. These names have echoed for years as they facilitated a perilous endeavor. Our goal was to dismantle Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities and to mitigate the nuclear threat posed by what many deem the world’s foremost state sponsor of terror.

Tonight, I am pleased to announce that these strikes were a resounding military success. Iran’s critical nuclear facilities have been utterly destroyed. The Middle East bully must now consider peace; failure to do so will result in even more severe attacks in the future. For four decades, Iran has chanted ‘Death to America’ and ‘Death to Israel.’

They have been responsible for the deaths of our citizens, inflicting injuries and devastation through roadside bombs. (This was delivered in a manner reminiscent of a casual remark about pets.)

Their specialty has been violence, resulting in the loss of over a thousand lives and countless others in the Middle East and globally due to their animosity.

General Qasem Soleimani was particularly notorious for his role in this carnage. I made the decision long ago that this cycle of violence must stop. I extend my gratitude to Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu; we have collaborated as a formidable team, making significant strides in neutralizing this dreadful threat to Israel.

I commend the Israeli military for their commendable efforts and, most importantly, I want to express my gratitude to the brave Americans who piloted those remarkable machines tonight, along with all members of the U.S. military involved in this unprecedented operation.

I sincerely hope we will not have to rely on such military actions in the future. I also want to acknowledge General Dan Raisin Caine, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, for his exceptional leadership. However, this cycle cannot persist.

We face a choice: either peace or greater tragedy awaits Iran, far beyond what we have witnessed over the past few days. Keep in mind, many targets remain. Tonight’s mission was the most complex and potentially lethal, but if rapid peace isn’t achieved, we will pursue those remaining targets with unparalleled precision and speed.

Most can be neutralized in mere minutes. No military in the world could have accomplished what we executed tonight—nothing even comes close. Tomorrow at 8:00 AM, General Caine and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth will hold a press conference at the Pentagon, and I extend my thanks to everyone, particularly to God.

We love you, God, and we cherish our incredible military. Protect them. God bless the Middle East, God bless Israel, and God bless America. Thank you very much.

One must wonder, who was Trump thanking at the outset of his remarks? There was clearly no audience, and applause was conspicuously absent. His speech was laden with bravado yet devoid of substance. It is disheartening that Trump appears to possess such a shallow understanding, believing that one bombing run could fundamentally change Iran’s stance.

His delivery was marked by slurred speech, incoherence, and a persona that lacks credibility. In this display, the United States has put forth a representative to the world that is frankly embarrassing.

Throughout his tenure on the international stage, Trump has faced criticism for his antics, but this moment may just take the cake.
