Melissa McBride joined the series in Season 2, set in Europe, despite initial plans to focus on both Daryl and Carol from the start. Showrunner David Zabel explained, âItâs one of the things that distinguishes us from the other âWalking Deadâ shows â that we get to show how different parts of the world have responded to the walker apocalypse and the different impact it has had in different places and come up with some cool, new things that you donât see in the American versions.â
