The separatist sentiment in Alberta is on the rise, with advocates preparing for a referendum that could lead to the province’s exit from Canada. It seems not every Canadian was offended by former US President Donald J. Trump’s remarks about Canada’s reliance on American subsidies, nor his audacious proposal for Canada to morph into ‘another United State’.

CNN reported:

“In the resource-rich province of Alberta, where the independence movement is gaining traction, many view Trump as a crucial ally. His critiques of former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have been received with enthusiasm, as have his fervent calls to ‘drill baby, drill’.”

“While some consider statehood under the US to be a leap too far, a significant portion of the Red Deer supporters believe that Trump – a fellow pro-oil conservative – would acknowledge a newly independent Alberta if the referendum favors their cause.”

Alberta has world-class people, cities, and resources.
But we’re being held back—by Ottawa.
From pipeline bans to carbon taxes to emissions caps, they’ve spent years targeting the very industries that built this country.#AlbertaIndependence is the way forward. pic.twitter.com/a2m7lh6uoi
