Senator Bernie Sanders is acutely aware that a recent legislation, which significantly reduces taxes for the wealthiest Americans while jeopardizing healthcare and food security for tens of millions, has passed. However, he asserts that the struggle to counteract this harmful measure has only just begun.

In a recent statement, Sen. Sanders emphasized:

Let’s be clear. As we face an era of unprecedented income and wealth disparity, the House’s approval of Trump’s so-called ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ today marks the most significant wealth transfer from the working class to the excessively affluent in American history.

The bill enacts the largest cut to Medicaid ever, all to finance the greatest tax break for billionaires we have witnessed.

Consequently, over 16 million Americans will lose access to their healthcare, leading to the unnecessary deaths of 50,000 individuals, while one in four nursing homes in the nation may be forced to close their doors. Additionally, 30% of Americans relying on community health centers for primary care may find themselves without necessary services, over a million children facing hunger will lose nutrition assistance, and countless working-class individuals will find higher education financially out of reach.

Let there be no misunderstanding: This legislation is a death sentence for working-class and low-income Americans.

What is the motive behind this? The Republicans are inflicting this pain upon the working class purely to distribute a $1 trillion tax break to the top 1%, along with a $900 billion tax break for large corporations.

This is morally reprehensible. In America, it is unconscionable to take food from the mouths of hungry children simply to grant billionaires yet another tax respite.

Every member of Congress who voted in favor of this catastrophic legislation must face consequences at the polls in the upcoming election. They do not deserve re-election and must be defeated.

Sen. Sanders’ assertion rings true. This legislation is indeed a fatal blow to working-class and impoverished Americans. Those at the bottom of the economic ladder, already vulnerable, are at the highest risk of suffering the consequences.

Meanwhile, those in positions of wealth will continue to thrive, while the majority will endure various hardships, including healthcare access challenges, job losses, and soaring prices.

The only viable path toward rectifying this situation lies in removing Republicans from power. Their deliberate actions have harmed millions, and it is incumbent upon the voters to hold them accountable.
