A String of Bold Armed Robberies in Chicago’s West Side

Authorities in Chicago are on high alert this Fourth of July weekend as a group of masked men have been linked to a series of early-morning armed robberies in the West Loop area. These violent holdups have left residents and visitors concerned as the perpetrators remain at large.

The recent spate of crimes began on Thursday, July 3, at 7 a.m. in the 1400 block of West Carroll Avenue in West Town. Three masked individuals assaulted a woman, pistol-whipping her before stealing her belongings at gunpoint. They fled the scene in a vehicle, leaving the victim shaken and injured.

Just a few hours later, at 10:12 a.m., another incident occurred at Rush University Medical Center on West Harrison Street. Two armed men in black attire robbed victims in a parking garage, taking personal items before escaping in a gray Infiniti Q50 with stolen plates.

On Independence Day, the same group struck three more times within an hour. The first robbery took place at 7:15 a.m. outside a Chase Bank on West Madison Street, where a man was held at gunpoint and robbed of cash. Subsequent incidents occurred on West Carroll Avenue and near Division and Paulina Streets in Wicker Park.

Despite changing license plates on their getaway vehicle, authorities believe the suspects are using the same car for their crimes. These incidents mirror a pattern of armed robberies that have plagued the area, prompting a community alert from the Chicago Police Department.

The suspects, described as Black males in their 20s to 30s, are said to wear ski masks and hooded sweatshirts during their attacks. They target pedestrians at gunpoint, with some victims being physically assaulted during the robberies.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. The hunt for these dangerous individuals continues as authorities work to ensure the safety of the community.
