Dow Inc. (DOW), a leading materials science company with a market capitalization of $20.1 billion, is set to announce its Q2 earnings on Thursday, July 24. The company is known for its innovative solutions in packaging, infrastructure, mobility, and consumer care, operating the world’s largest ethylene cracker in Freeport, Texas.

Analysts are expecting Dow to report a loss of $0.06 per share for the quarter, a significant decrease from the $0.68 per share profit in the same period last year. Despite this, Dow has a history of surpassing Wall Street’s expectations in some quarters.

For the current fiscal year, analysts forecast an EPS of $0.31, down from $1.71 in fiscal 2024. However, there is optimism for a rebound in fiscal 2026, with an expected 167.7% increase in EPS to $0.83.

Over the past 52 weeks, Dow’s stock has declined by 46.2%, underperforming the S&P 500 Index and the Materials Select Sector SPDR Fund. A recent downgrade by BMO Capital Markets further contributed to the decline, with concerns over global demand and margin pressures impacting the company’s future performance.

Despite the cautious outlook, analysts’ consensus on DOW stock is a “Hold,” with a mean price target of $32.72, suggesting a 15% potential upside from current market prices.
