Independent journalist Mark Halperin recently provided a compelling analysis regarding the cancelation of major media entities such as Colbert’s show, PBS, and NPR.

Halperin argued that these platforms have long served as a ‘crutch’ for the Democratic Party, consistently delivering anti-Trump sentiment that bolstered their narrative.

Sean Spicer, who joined the discussion, emphasized that this shift has compelled conservatives to innovate, resulting in the emergence of alternatives like conservative talk radio.

Here’s a partial transcript via Real Clear Politics:

MARK HALPERIN: The left operates under the assumption that they can maintain an unchallenged dominance over the media landscape.

Stephen Colbert transformed his platform into a nightly anti-Trump rallying point. As Karoline Leavitt has thoroughly documented, NPR and PBS have functioned as nothing more than Democratic attack units.

Now, they find themselves stripped of these asymmetrical advantages. This is a significant blow, not just for them but for the Democratic Party, which has relied heavily on these resources.

SEAN SPICER: Mark, you’ve hit on something truly profound. It’s been my contention for a long time that Democrats have held sway over these major institutions.

Indeed, as Colbert, NPR, and PBS begin to falter, we see a burgeoning alternative economy. Republicans are adapting, learning to build their own banks if they feel ostracized by the likes of Bank of America, and turning to cryptocurrency when traditional currency fails them.

This is mirrored in the media landscape with the rise of talk radio and podcasts. Conversely, the left’s control over academia, Hollywood, and corporate sectors is beginning to erode, primarily because they’ve overreached in several areas.

MARK HALPERIN: Absolutely. That’s why I categorize them as the losers in this scenario. We’re witnessing a paradigm shift, and they remain oblivious to how reliant they’ve been on these media crutches.

This realization is precisely why many on the left are currently in a state of alarm. They recognize that they are losing some of their most ardent supporters and amplifiers.
