The enchanting world of Filoli’s Natural Lands is currently home to a whimsical exhibition by Danish artist Thomas Dambo. Entitled “Trolls: Save the Humans,” this delightful display features six wooden characters, each with its own unique personality and mission.

As visitors meander through the picturesque mile-stretch of Filoli’s Natural Lands, they will encounter these eager wooden trolls, ready to share their wisdom and spread a message of sustainability. From the innovative “Kamma Can” who teaches people how to transform waste into art, to “Ibbi Pip: The Birdhouse Troll” dedicated to installing birdhouses and creating a safe haven for avian friends, each troll has a vital role to play in protecting the environment.

One of the standout characters is “Sofus Lotus: The Listening Troll,” who urges us to pay attention to the changes happening in the forest and be more mindful of our surroundings. With their larger-than-life presence and engaging personas, these trolls serve as activists at heart, using the charm of fairytales to convey important messages about the climate crisis and the impact of human behavior.

Thomas Dambo, the mastermind behind these magnificent creations, expresses his joy at having his trolls find a temporary home among the giant redwoods at Filoli. The magical setting of the forest provides the perfect backdrop for these larger-than-life creatures to inspire visitors and spark conversations about sustainability.

The exhibition, “Trolls: Save the Humans,” will be on display at Filoli in Woodside, California, until November 10. Follow along with Dambo’s passionate personalities on Instagram for a deeper look into their world-saving adventures.
