The iconic animated series “South Park” is set to leave HBO Max next week, as show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have struck a lucrative deal with Paramount Global. This exclusive streaming rights agreement with Paramount+ means that the first 26 seasons of “South Park” will no longer be available on HBO Max after August 5, 2025.

Originally part of the HBO Max lineup since its launch in May 2020, “South Park” was a key asset for WarnerMedia. The multiyear deal for the show was valued at over $500 million. However, the show will now find its new home on Paramount+ as part of a reported $1.5 billion deal with Parker and Stone’s Park County production company.

Under the terms of the new agreement, “South Park” will receive an order for 50 new episodes, in addition to making all 26 previous seasons available for streaming on Paramount+ for the first time. Fans can expect new episodes to air on Comedy Central before being available for streaming on Paramount+ the following day.

The premiere of “South Park” Season 27 made headlines with its sharp satire of President Trump, featuring controversial scenes that drew criticism from the White House. Despite the backlash, the episode garnered high viewership, marking the biggest linear premiere for the show in over two decades.

The release of “South Park” Season 27 faced a brief delay, as Parker and Stone accused Paramount Skydance president Jeff Shell of interfering with their contract negotiations with Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix. The premiere was pushed back by two weeks but still managed to captivate audiences with its bold and irreverent humor.

The ongoing success and popularity of “South Park” speak to the enduring legacy of the show and its ability to push boundaries in the realm of animated comedy. With its move to Paramount+, fans can look forward to more outrageous adventures from the residents of South Park while enjoying the entire series in one convenient streaming platform.
