Beta Film has recently announced its involvement in a new project titled “A Lovely Mess – Rob the Rich,” a captivating social dramedy that explores the lengths people will go to in order to keep up with societal expectations.
The six-part series combines elements of adventure, romantic comedy, and class satire as it follows the story of Justine and Rémi, a middle-aged couple facing financial struggles just as their family is on the brink of social ascension. In a desperate attempt to maintain appearances, they embark on a risky double-life of nighttime burglary, targeting the very elite they aspire to impress. Along the way, they uncover deeper secrets and rediscover their connection to each other.
Created by writer Sarah Tissandier and director Stéphanie Pillonca, “A Lovely Mess – Rob the Rich” is produced by Redstone for France Télévisions. The show offers a serialized narrative that combines elements of intrigue, family drama, and a lighthearted tone that has resonated with audiences both domestically and internationally.
In addition to “A Lovely Mess – Rob the Rich,” Beta Film is set to showcase a diverse lineup at Mipcom, including other compelling series such as “Mozart Mozart,” “Empathy,” and “Velvet New York – The New Empire.”
“Mozart Mozart,” produced by Story House Pictures and ARD, reimagines the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart through the perspective of his talented sister Maria Anna. The historical drama follows Maria Anna as she assumes her brother’s identity to perform for Emperor Joseph II, navigate the complexities of court life, and pursue her own aspirations while concealing a delicate secret from her rival, Salieri.
From Canada comes “Empathy,” a multi-award-winning dramedy created by Florence Longpré. The series centers around psychiatrist-criminologist Suzanne as she returns to a secure psychiatric facility to treat dangerous patients using unconventional methods, much to the dismay of her colleagues. Alongside Mortimer, a colleague with his own vulnerabilities, Suzanne navigates the challenges of her profession while making a significant impact on her patients.
Lastly, “Velvet New York – The New Empire” is the U.S. adaptation of the popular Spanish series “Velvet.” Set in the glamorous world of New York fashion, the show follows a young seamstress and a fashion heir as they navigate love, loss, and betrayal amidst ambition and social intrigue. The series has garnered significant attention, becoming Telemundo’s top Spanish-language program and exceeding viewership expectations.
With a diverse range of captivating series in its portfolio, Beta Film continues to showcase innovative storytelling and compelling narratives that resonate with audiences worldwide.
