But then Rob and Charlie came to our writers room and we hashed out some real broad stroke ideas,” Schumacker explained. The collaboration between the two shows was a result of Brunson’s initial idea after meeting McElhenney at an event, showcasing the creativity and camaraderie between the teams.
Part one of the crossover will air on “Abbott Elementary,” with the “Abbott” characters set to make an appearance on an episode of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” when the show returns.
