A24’s provocative arthouse film Pillion centers on Ray (portrayed by Skarsgård), the alluring leader of a motorcycle gang who plunges the timid Colin (Harry Melling) into a submissive dynamic. What can viewers anticipate? Elements such as Prince Albert piercings (handled by a prosthetic!), unclothed grappling, and immense sexual tension and release.
In an interview with Variety on the red carpet, the actor remarked: “When I viewed this on screen, I was reminded of [Al Pacino’s] Cruising, depicting a dark, dangerous New York City. Leather-clad individuals can be intimidating. While I’m not Ray, I have some familiarity with that world and understand it’s not entirely accurately represented.”
“In this instance, my background isn’t of utmost importance,” Skarsgård explained. “Sure, I have a child, but my past, whether it involves men or women… what truly mattered to me was the chance to narrate a story about a subculture, which I felt had not been depicted with such authenticity before.”
