The Las Vegas Raiders have kicked off their OTAs, with all eyes on first-round pick Ashton Jeanty. Jeanty, a standout running back in college, is expected to be a major part of the Raiders’ offensive strategy this season. The former Heisman finalist was selected sixth overall by Las Vegas, generating a considerable amount of hype as he enters his rookie season.

While Jeanty was primarily known for his ability to gain yards after contact and break tackles on the ground during his college career, there has been an interesting development in OTAs. The Raiders recently shared a video showcasing Jeanty catching downfield passes, hinting at a potential plan to incorporate him into the passing game as well.

During his time at Boise State, Jeanty caught just 23 passes for 138 yards, rarely being utilized in their passing game. However, Las Vegas seems keen on expanding his skill set and making him a threat in the passing game, possibly keeping him on the field for all three downs.

In his final season at Boise State, Jeanty rushed for an impressive 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns on 374 carries, establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with on the ground.

Raiders’ coach, Pete Carroll, had high praise for Ashton Jeanty, commending his dedication and quick grasp of the playbook as a rookie. Carroll expressed his confidence in Jeanty as a starter in Week 1 and emphasized that they are not holding back in terms of his involvement in the team’s offensive schemes.

Jeanty, on the other hand, revealed that he modeled his game after Marshawn Lynch and is thrilled to be coached by Carroll, who previously coached Lynch during his time in Seattle.

As the Raiders gear up for their season opener on September 7 against the New England Patriots, all eyes will be on Ashton Jeanty to see how he transitions from college star to NFL standout.

The article was edited by Cole Shelton, an experienced NHL, NFL, and College Sports reporter with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the sports industry. Cole’s background in journalism and passion for sports ensure that he provides accurate and engaging coverage of various sporting events.

Overall, the Raiders and their fans have high hopes for Ashton Jeanty as he embarks on his NFL journey, and the upcoming season promises to be an exciting one for the talented rookie.
