ITV Studios has kicked off Mipcom with exciting news, unveiling that two of their highly-anticipated dramas have been acquired across numerous regions just as the Cannes-based television event gets underway.
Both “Coldwater,” a new drama featuring Andrew Lincoln, and the Sister-produced thriller “The Guest” have secured widespread sales, as confirmed by the ITV-owned production house.
Showtime has secured the U.S. rights to both series, following previous announcements, while the shows have now been sold to over 40 countries, including Canal+ in Poland, TVNZ in New Zealand, and OSN Group covering 28 nations in the Middle East. “Coldwater” will premiere in more than 40 countries, while “The Guest” has been sold in 50 territories, including BritBox Australia.
“Coldwater” features “The Walking Dead” alum Lincoln alongside Ewan Bremner from “Trainspotting” in a gripping narrative about an ordinary man who becomes entangled with a menacing stranger. The show is produced by Sister (“Black Doves”) and is helmed by creator and writer David Ireland (“The Lovers”).
In the meantime, “The Guest” showcases Eve Myles (“Broadchurch”) and Gabrielle Creevy (“Black Doves”) in a high-octane thriller following the unraveling lives of two friends. The production is managed by Quay St Productions, owned by ITV Studios, with executive production by Nicola Shindler (“Happy Valley”).
