Prince Andrew, also known as Andrew Windsor, has recently faced a major setback as his firearms license has been revoked. Reports from sources suggest that police and palace officials took this drastic step due to serious concerns about his mental state and access to weapons.

The 65-year-old former Duke of York, who was once a regular participant in elite shooting weekends, is now prohibited from transporting or using guns without strict professional supervision. There are fears that his behavior has become so unstable that there is a risk he could harm himself or even go on a royal family murder spree.

This decision came after officers from London’s Metropolitan Police firearms licensing unit visited Royal Lodge in Windsor to request that Windsor voluntarily surrender his shotgun and firearms certificates. This intervention follows a period of intense scrutiny surrounding the disgraced royal, who has been stripped of his royal titles by his older brother King Charles.

Despite his withdrawal from public life, Windsor had retained his firearms license until now. However, sources familiar with the situation expressed growing concerns about his access to firearms. There is a growing sense that allowing him continued access to firearms was no longer responsible, not just for recklessness but also for the safety of himself and others.

Furthermore, there are reports that Andrew is effectively under discreet suicide watch, with staff constantly checking on him at the King’s orders. There is genuine anxiety that his mental health has sharply deteriorated since losing his titles and role within the royal family.

In Britain, anyone with a firearms license who is considered a potential risk to themselves or others can easily have their license revoked if concerns are raised to authorities. Police did not confiscate Andrew’s weapons during the initial visit but imposed strict conditions on storage and access.

The decision to revoke his firearms license followed allegations that he had asked a royal protection officer to gather information on a s– trafficking victim, which was ultimately dropped after investigation. The combination of pressures on Windsor led to the revocation of his license, not as a form of punishment but as a risk management measure.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the visit to Windsor but did not provide further details on the reasoning behind the decision. Royal insiders revealed that Windsor has not attended shooting events in Windsor Great Park since losing his royal status. The decision not to pursue a criminal investigation into the alleged request for information on the victim has sparked criticism from her family.

Windsor remains at Royal Lodge under tight security, away from the public eye, as royal aides manage what is described as an ongoing and deeply troubling situation.
