Armed husband confronts suspected Florida kidnapper after wife is followed home

A Florida man’s actions have been deemed as self-defense after he shot a felon who allegedly tried to abduct his wife. The incident took place in Bradenton, Florida, on New Year’s Day, when Nicholas Palomo, a 36-year-old felon with a history of kidnapping and other crimes, attempted to abduct a woman who was walking her dog.

The woman managed to escape and alert her husband, who then confronted Palomo outside their home. Detectives reported that Palomo started acting aggressively and advanced towards the husband, prompting the husband to open fire on Palomo in self-defense.

Authorities arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting, but despite life-saving efforts, Palomo succumbed to a single gunshot wound to the chest. An autopsy confirmed his cause of death.

Prior to the abduction attempt, Palomo was involved in a disturbance at a nearby Circle K, where he appeared to be under the influence of drugs. After a thorough review of the case, the State Attorney’s Office determined that the homeowner’s actions were justified in the situation.

To protect the privacy of the individuals involved, the names of the husband and wife have not been disclosed in accordance with Marsy’s Law. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office for further comments on the incident.

Overall, the authorities have ruled the shooting as an act of self-defense, highlighting the husband’s actions as a necessary response to protect his wife from a dangerous felon.
