Anne Hathaway’s name recently surfaced in court documents related to the ongoing legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. The documents, which were unsealed in January 2026, contained emails and correspondence from Lively, Baldoni, their teams, and executives involved in the movie “It Ends With Us.”

While Hathaway is not directly involved in the legal proceedings, her name was mentioned in a conversation between Sony executives Tom Rothman and Tony Vinciquerra. The discussion revolved around a Hollywood Reporter article where Vinciquerra praised Blake Lively for her work on “It Ends With Us” despite facing backlash for her promotion of the film, which addresses themes of domestic violence.

Rothman commended Vinciquerra for his positive comments about Lively, noting that the online criticism towards her was particularly harsh. He compared Lively’s situation to the public scrutiny that Hathaway faced in the past, where Hathaway was criticized for seemingly trying too hard to be perfect, especially after winning an Oscar for her role in “Les Miserables.”

In a 2014 interview with Vanity Fair, Hathaway revealed how the online backlash affected her career, with many casting directors being hesitant to hire her due to her perceived toxic online image. She credited director Christopher Nolan for giving her a chance and supporting her during that challenging time.

Similarly, Lively faced backlash for her promotional remarks about “It Ends With Us,” but she later shared resources for domestic violence victims on her social media platforms in response to the criticism.

The comparison between Lively and Hathaway highlights the challenges that female celebrities face in the public eye and the impact of online criticism on their careers. Both actresses have weathered difficult times in the spotlight and have shown resilience in the face of adversity.

Despite the mention of Hathaway in the court documents, it is important to note that she is not directly involved in Lively and Baldoni’s legal battle. The unfolding of events in the case sheds light on the complexities of fame, public perception, and the importance of supporting individuals in the entertainment industry.
