BD Wong has issued a detailed apology on Threads after facing backlash for making a racist comment on social media. The actor, known for his roles in “Law & Order” and “Jurassic World,” made the controversial comment on a post by Mike Holston, also known as @TheRealTarzan, who has a large following on Instagram. Holston, who is Black, posted a photo with an animal and asked for wrong answers only to identify the animal. Wong’s reply, which has since been deleted, stated, “It appears to be a Black man.”

Realizing the gravity of his mistake, Wong took to Threads to express his remorse. He acknowledged that his comment was a very bad joke and apologized for the hurt and disappointment it caused. Wong admitted that his attempt to follow the “Wrong Answers Only” prompt backfired, resulting in a comment that was not only wrong but also hurtful. He emphasized that he understands the responsibility for his actions and that there are no excuses for his behavior.

In a follow-up post, Wong elaborated on the racist nature of his comment and reiterated his acceptance of responsibility. He recognized the harm caused by perpetuating a racist trope under the guise of humor and expressed deep regret for his actions. Wong emphasized that he knows better and vowed to focus his energy on rectifying the harm he caused.

BD Wong is a well-known actor with a diverse portfolio of roles, including Dr. George Huang on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and Dr. Henry Wu in the “Jurassic Park” franchise. He has also appeared in acclaimed TV shows like “Mr. Robot” and “Gotham.” Wong’s talent and versatility as an actor have earned him recognition and praise throughout his career.

As Wong continues to reflect on his actions and strive for accountability, it serves as a reminder of the importance of being mindful of the impact of words and actions in a world where social media can amplify both positive and negative behaviors. It is a lesson in the power of humility, growth, and empathy in the face of mistakes, and a call for a more inclusive and respectful online community.
