Reported by Sam Sherwood for RNZ
An investigation is currently ongoing following a tragic incident involving a six-month-old baby in Foxton, located in the North Island of New Zealand.
Senior Sergeant Michael Deegan informed RNZ that the baby was discovered with critical injuries at a residence in Foxton Beach on Sunday.
Emergency services responded to a call at the Seabury Avenue house around 5:30 am that day.
The infant was initially taken to Palmerston North Hospital and later airlifted to Starship Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
Authorities are actively working to determine the circumstances that led to the baby boy’s injuries, conducting a thorough examination of the scene at the Foxton Beach house where a guard has been stationed.
Residents of Seabury Avenue can anticipate a continued police presence in the upcoming days as investigations progress and neighbors are interviewed as part of the inquiries,” Deegan stated.
