Richard Gadd, the talented creator and star of the widely acclaimed Netflix series “Baby Reindeer,” has been announced as the headline act for Future Vision 2025, Australia’s leading global television exchange event. Scheduled to take place from July 14-16 at ACMI in Melbourne, this event promises to be a gathering of some of the most influential figures in the television industry.
Joining Gadd at Future Vision 2025 are esteemed guests such as Sally Wainwright, the creator of the popular series “Happy Valley,” and Soo Hugh, the showrunner behind the highly anticipated “Pachinko.” The event, presented by Australians in Film in collaboration with Screen Australia and VicScreen, will also feature a lineup of Australian screen visionaries including Harriet Dyer, Asher Keddie, Justin Kurzel, Shaun Grant, Hannah Carroll Chapman, Corrie Chen, and Dylan River.
In addition to the star-studded lineup of speakers, the event will be chaired by industry heavyweights Bruna Papandrea and Tony Ayres, with support from a team of creative advisors that includes Imogen Banks, Robert Connolly, Darren Dale, Emile Sherman, and Rebecca Yeldham. According to Peter Ritchie, the executive director of Future Vision 2025, the event aims to bring together Australia’s top television creators to explore new collaborative opportunities on a global scale.
The three-day event will kick off with an open-access Town Hall on July 14, featuring in-depth discussions with the international headliners. The session will be livestreamed for wider accessibility. The following day’s “Round Table” session will be invitation-only and will focus on industry-specific challenges faced by commissioners, development executives, producers, directors, and writers. Topics will include the changing role of showrunners, evolving expectations for TV directors, and the balance between character development and storytelling.
The final day of the event, titled “The Writers Room,” will delve into themes of artistic bravery, episodic television craft, and effective creative communication. Industry partners supporting the summit include The Walt Disney Company Australia & New Zealand, Netflix, and Stan, with ACMI serving as the venue partner.
To attend the industry-only sessions, applicants must have recent credits as a commissioner, development executive, producer, director, or writer on prime-time television series within the past five years, with a proven track record in drama or comedy creation.
Future Vision 2025 promises to be a dynamic and engaging event that will bring together some of the brightest minds in the television industry to explore new opportunities and challenges in the ever-evolving landscape of television production.
