Melissa Rycroft‘s mugshot was made public after her arrest for alleged driving while intoxicated last month.

In the image obtained by Us Weekly on Friday, October 3, the 42-year-old former Bachelor contestant appears disheveled with a teal background behind her.

Rycroft’s eyes appear swollen in the mugshot, and her brown hair is styled to one side, with a noticeable redness to her face.

This mugshot was released following news of Rycroft’s arrest on September 23 in Texas for a DWI. According to TMZ, she made bail with a $1,000 bond and was released eight hours later, agreeing to appear in court.

At the time of the incident, Rycroft reportedly claimed a driver had struck her vehicle and fled, but a witness allegedly disputed her account, as stated in a search warrant reviewed by the outlet. The witness claimed that Rycroft’s vehicle was the only one involved.

The police in Tarrant County described Rycroft as having “bloodshot eyes” and “slurred speech” while she was beside an off-duty firefighter during the incident.

“I want to emphasize the basic principle of our justice system … every person is innocent until proven guilty,” Rycroft’s lawyer, Bret Martin, told TMZ on Friday. “Society has strayed from this fundamental truth. An arrest does not equal guilt.”

The statement continued, “It is crucial to scrutinize the details of this case—encompassing law enforcement’s actions, the toxicology reports, and the facts leading to her arrest—before drawing any conclusions. We kindly ask the media and public to let the legal process transpire and refrain from passing any judgment until all evidence is thoroughly evaluated and presented in court.”

Former Bachelor and Bachelorette Winners: Where Are They Now?

At this time, Rycroft has not made any public statements regarding her arrest, and Us Weekly has reached out for a response.

Rycroft’s legal troubles come over 15 years after she gained fame on season 13 of The Bachelor in 2009, where she won Jason Mesnick‘s final rose only for him to end up with runner-up Molly Mesnick. (Jason and Molly have been happily married since 2010.)

After her breakup with Jason, Rycroft found love with former partner Tye Strickland, whom she married in December 2009. They share three children: Ava, 14, Beckett, 11, and Cayson, 9.

Rycroft, a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, mentioned exclusively to Us Weekly in November 2020, that she and Strickland are satisfied with their family of five.

She remarked, “The challenge is that we are well beyond the newborn phase now. My youngest is four, which is the oldest baby I’ve had at home. I’m not sure I could go back to sleepless nights and baby gear.”

Rycroft concluded, “At this point, everyone is self-sufficient. They can enjoy themselves in the playroom, and I’m no longer anxious about anyone getting hurt. Life is really good … I dedicated a decade to that stage, and now it feels like I’ve earned a break.”
