In a stunning display of political miscalculation, President Biden has once again found himself on the back foot—this time on the global stage.

While former President Donald Trump celebrates a diplomatic breakthrough that offers a glimmer of hope for peace in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, Biden has finally chosen to step into the fray.

Unsurprisingly, his involvement has only magnified his administration’s shortcomings.

Initially, Biden’s comments might seem inoffensive:

I am deeply grateful and relieved that this day has come – for the last living 20 hostages who have been through unimaginable hell and are finally reunited with their families and loved ones, and for the civilians in Gaza who have experienced immeasurable loss and will finally

— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) October 13, 2025

“I am deeply grateful and relieved that this day has come,” Biden stated, referencing the release of Israeli hostages and the suffering endured by Palestinian civilians due to Hamas’s brutality. Yet, in his subsequent remarks, Biden attempted to commend Trump for the diplomatic pact without missing the opportunity to reshape the narrative in his favor—a move that only highlighted his political ineptitude.

“My Administration worked tirelessly to bring hostages home, provide relief to Palestinian civilians, and end the war,” Biden continued.

One might wonder what he meant by “worked tirelessly.” Perhaps he was referring to the pressure he applied on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to **”take it easy”** on Hamas, even after the horrific events of October 7, 2023—a day that marked one of the most tragic episodes in Jewish history.

When he mentions “relief to Palestinian civilians,” could it be that Biden is talking about his administration’s token gestures aimed at placating the more radical elements of his party? Actions such as funding a costly pier intended to facilitate aid to Gaza, a project that was predestined for failure, align perfectly with populist politics but not with pragmatism.

But can we really consider this to be the truth of the situation?

For those tuning in both domestically and internationally, Biden’s rhetoric appears profoundly influenced by political calculus, prioritizing Muslim votes in Michigan over the lives and safety of Israelis in the Middle East. It’s hard not to see how Trump’s unapologetic stand against the Democratic Party’s far-left elements, including the media and international appeasers, effectively brought about the release of hostages and a tentative peace.

That is the kind of resolve Biden couldn’t exhibit, as such a stance might jeopardize his party’s chances in critical swing districts.

If Biden—whether he penned his Twitter post or someone else did—was genuinely aiming to praise Trump, his approach came off as petty. If it was an attempt to bask in the glow of bipartisanship, it only succeeded in drawing attention to his failures and shortcomings instead.

Ultimately, the timing and tone of Biden’s remarks served more to illuminate his administration’s inadequacies than to foster any sense of unity in a time of crisis.
