BAFTA North America has announced the postponement of its inaugural BAFTA Honours, which will now take place in the fall of 2026.
As originally reported by Variety in August, the new awards from BAFTA North America were set to recognize a honoree in each category across television, film, and video games, with the ceremony initially scheduled for Sunday, November 2. This week, it was officially confirmed that the ceremony would be delayed by a year.
BAFTA North America released a statement to Variety, announcing, “We are postponing the inaugural BAFTA Honours to fall 2026. We will provide additional details, including the date, location, and honorees, in the coming months. We are eager to bring the BAFTA Honours to Los Angeles next year and honor three remarkable individuals from Film, TV, and Games with the iconic BAFTA mask.”
At the time of this announcement, no specific reasons for the postponement were disclosed. This awards program had been a significant part of BAFTA North America’s mission to enhance its presence in the U.S. and emphasize the recognition of the gaming sector alongside the film and television industries.
Recently, BAFTA North America has intensified its involvement with the gaming community through participation at events such as Games for Change in New York and Unreal Fest in Orlando. Additionally, they have established a new BAFTA Games North America Committee.
