Matthew Perry’s Mysterious “Mattman” Nickname Explained

It is unclear what the mysterious nickname was in reference to, but one source claims his “Mattman” posts had something to do with a TV series idea he had in the works.

The insider told People that Perry was “having fun” and was “incredibly happy” after signing on to act in a new drama film, Unworthy.

However, Perry’s ex, Kayti Edwards, claimed weeks after his death that the actor only referred to himself by the moniker when he was high.

She claimed in an interview with the UK Sun: “That Mattman thing was not something he did when he was sober. Mattman would come out when he was not sober, and he felt kind of invincible.”

“I was around when he was getting high, although I was not getting high with him, and when I would say maybe he should cool it a little bit with the drugs, he would say, ‘No, I’m Mattman.’

Matthew Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the hit TV show Friends, had a mysterious nickname that has puzzled fans and insiders alike. The nickname “Mattman” was often used by Perry in his social media posts, leaving many wondering what it meant.

According to a source, the “Mattman” posts were in reference to a TV series idea that Perry was working on. The source claimed that Perry was excited about the project and was having fun exploring new creative avenues. In fact, Perry had recently signed on to act in a new drama film called Unworthy, which added to his excitement.

However, Perry’s ex-girlfriend, Kayti Edwards, shed some light on the nickname in a recent interview with the UK Sun. She revealed that Perry would only refer to himself as “Mattman” when he was under the influence of drugs. Edwards expressed concern about Perry’s drug use and stated that he would often use the nickname as a way to feel invincible while high.

“I was around when he was getting high, although I was not getting high with him,” Edwards explained. “When I would suggest that he should cut back on the drugs, he would always brush it off and say, ‘No, I’m Mattman.'”

The revelation about the origin of Perry’s nickname has sparked a new conversation among fans and followers of the actor. While Perry’s legacy continues to live on through his iconic roles on screen, the mystery behind “Mattman” adds a new layer to his complex personality.
