Belgium is fully embracing its World Cup excitement with Red Devil-themed Jupiler beer cans, football-shaped Leonidas chocolates, and sticker collectables available at the Delhaize supermarket. The nation has rallied behind its World Cup campaign.
Brussels Airlines, the country’s flag carrier, has also joined in the festivities.
With a playful twist, Brussels Airlines is operating its Trident aircraft, adorned with the colors and symbols of Belgium’s national football teams, to Spanish cities like Madrid and Barcelona in anticipation of Friday’s World Cup quarterfinal between Belgium and Spain.
When asked about this move, Brussels Airlines opted not to provide further details, stating via email: “We did not provide any comments, as we think the joke speaks for itself :).”
This uniquely designed aircraft showcases a trident symbolizing the Red Devils, Belgium’s men’s national football team, alongside flames that represent the women’s team, the Red Flames.
Brussels Airlines explained that the design intends to highlight both teams since “it’s high time that the women’s team gets as much attention as the men’s team.”
Meanwhile, Iberia, Spain’s national airline, also features a specially designed aircraft that transported the country’s national football team across the Atlantic. Unlike the tridents and flames, Iberia’s plane displays an image of Spain’s squad and the slogan: “A team takes off. A country flies.”
