Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku recently expressed his excitement at staying with the team after the trade deadline passed without him being moved. The 29-year-old, who was the subject of trade rumors, declared his loyalty to the Browns during a press conference, stating, “I’m so happy I’m here. Of course, it’s always a possibility. This is the NFL, man. But I’m in Cleveland, baby. I’m not going nowhere. I’m not leaving.”

Despite a challenging season for the Browns’ offense, Njoku has managed to record 27 catches for 260 yards and two touchdowns. The trade rumors surrounding him were not just about his performance but also about his contract, which is set to expire at the end of the current campaign. The decision to keep him is seen as a move towards a potential long-term extension.

When asked about contract negotiations with the Browns, Njoku hinted that discussions may have started but did not confirm. However, he expressed his desire to remain with the team beyond this season. While he had requested a trade before the 2020 season, Njoku has since become a fan favorite in Cleveland and signed a contract extension worth $56.75 million in 2022.

With two rookie quarterbacks leading the Browns’ offense, veterans like Njoku play a crucial role in stabilizing the team. As the Browns prepare to face the struggling New York Jets on Sunday, questions arise about when rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders will get his chance to play. The game is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 p.m. (ET) on Sunday.

Overall, David Njoku’s commitment to the Browns and his importance to the team’s offense make him a key player to watch as the season progresses. Fans can expect to see him continue to make an impact on the field and potentially secure a long-term future with the franchise.
