A violent carjacking in Edgewater left a 34-year-old woman physically attacked and dragged from her car in the early hours of Sunday morning. The incident occurred in the 1400 block of West Rosemont Avenue around 2:35 a.m. A passing motorist called 911 after witnessing the woman lying on the ground with two males standing over her. The motorist briefly stopped to inquire about her well-being but drove away when one of the men reached for his pocket, possibly indicating he had a weapon.

According to a report from the Chicago Police Department, the carjackers arrived in a silver SUV and pulled up next to the victim’s white Honda Civic. One of the men assaulted her, grabbed her by the hair, and forcibly removed her from the vehicle before fleeing the scene in both her Civic and the silver SUV. Descriptions provided by officers at the scene indicated that one of the hijackers was a clean-shaven Black male wearing an orange cap or hoodie, while details about the second accomplice were not available.

In a separate incident over the weekend, another carjacking was reported in Humboldt Park. On Saturday around 7 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Talman Avenue, a 41-year-old man was sitting inside his Nissan Pathfinder when three unidentified offenders approached. At least one of them brandished a firearm as they demanded the man’s phone and wallet before fleeing in his Pathfinder heading northbound on Talman Avenue.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with either carjacking case. These incidents highlight the ongoing issue of carjackings in Chicago and the importance of staying vigilant and aware of one’s surroundings. It is crucial for community members to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement to help prevent further crimes.
