LAS VEGAS — Amy Gleason, a top Trump administration official, shared a powerful story at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas about her daughter’s journey to a diagnosis of a rare immune disease. It took 12 doctors at six different health systems across four states to finally identify the condition in 2010. However, Gleason firmly believes that with the advancements in artificial intelligence today, her daughter could have been diagnosed much faster.

As the acting administrator of the U.S. DOGE Service and a strategic adviser to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Gleason has been advocating for leveraging AI to revolutionize health technology. She emphasized that if her daughter’s illness had occurred in the present day, AI could have detected the disease in a fraction of the time it originally took.

The use of AI in healthcare has the potential to streamline diagnostic processes, improve accuracy, and ultimately enhance patient outcomes. By analyzing vast amounts of data and recognizing patterns that may not be apparent to human healthcare providers, AI can assist in identifying rare diseases and developing personalized treatment plans.

Gleason’s experience highlights the significant impact that technology, specifically AI, can have on healthcare. By harnessing the power of AI, healthcare professionals can expedite diagnoses, reduce healthcare costs, and ultimately save lives. As the administration continues to prioritize advancements in health technology, the integration of AI into healthcare systems is poised to revolutionize the industry and improve patient care on a global scale.
