The location and route of the tunnel system for the hydropower dam project remain shrouded in secrecy, as official designs have yet to be disclosed to the public. Although the route depicted is an approximation, it aligns with the expected elevation changes outlined in the proposed plans for the facility.
Environmental geographer Mehebub Sahana from Manchester University and researcher Ye Huang from Global Energy Monitor embarked on a quest to pinpoint potential sites for the hydropower dam. Through a meticulous analysis of satellite imagery, they sought to determine whether recent construction activities in certain areas were linked to the development of the project.
